Varnelis (2001) reported on digital media and networking that
started in the nineties as communication and how to transfer all computing and
technologies. With the techniques of using new media technologies, people were
introduced to so many new ways of using the tools. They could place the technology into their
own personal practice.
Varnelis (2001) wrote about how people use technologies such
as their phone and laptop to constantly communicate and interact on through
networking. He described a man who deliberately left his phone and laptop in
the car when stopping at Starbucks to not be tempted to catch up with media
technology. Another technology user was
using iTunes to download music. Varnelis (2001) described how students can
practice this technology by studying together and listening to music on their
iPhones.
The media technology started with cell
phones in Japan, Korean’s contribution to internet access through broadband,
and then was realeased into the many internet media technology.
Varnelis (2001) discussed a flow of information as part of
explaining the media technology along with users being present when using the
tools. There are so many tools that are put into practice such as
instant messaging, web meetings can occur. Users can collaborate in these kind
of social media platforms. Connectivity
and processing this power to places that are not available to receive signals
to laptops except through 4G connections in rural areas are available as
internet technology.
In
terms of Green’s approach to literacy, the operational, cultural, and critical
literacy practices, the technologies now available globally give users in
social and business platforms the ability to have speedy access and 4G, 5G access
in difficult places for connectivity. Literacy skills and understanding the
strategies that are common across the curriculums, have assisted people who
want to use the technology and now can become computer literate. There is a
socially constructed medium to choose from in literacy practice. (Durrant, et
al. 2001, p. 1)
Bottom-up expression was suggested to raise the level of professional
and personal media forms of communication technology for social exchange and business-to-busines
communication. “RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags which included
information systems’ relationship to diverse objects and places” (Varnelis,
2001, p. 5).
Varnelis discussed intellectual property and specific
research projects to be considered in the development of the social medic
components. Wi-Fi access, eBay trades, and many networked publics became the
mode of interacting in the soclal- media world. Peer-to-peer and Many-to-many
distribution systems are the developments that were used by commercial media
world. Varnelis (2001) suggested that
MySpace networks and other medias were captured by the young as interpersonal
networks as network sharing of their stuff.
My
thinking about the reading, is that the challenges made prior to the
development of literacy in the technological sense were met. Business is happy marketing, teens are using
the technology to an ultimate level, and users learn and can successfully navigate
through WiFi, broad-band and all the social and business networks. I use my laptop to connect, use and input and
output all the work needed for my graduate online level.
